Prizing privacy as I do, I would never deliberately eavesdrop on anyone else’s conversation. I wouldn’t break anyone else’s membrane of privilege and privacy. I wouldn’t stalk anyone who seemed likely to say something interesting, hoping for an eavesdropping opportunity. I wouldn’t invest in electronic aids to eavesdropping. Never. I would never do anything like that. If, however, chance puts me in a circumstance where overhearing a conversation is unavoidable, I will listen. I will listen attentively, avidly.
